George Gale purchased 100-acres of land on the east side of the Susquehanna near Watson’s (Garrett) Island and laid out a town called Chesapeake, a short distance above Perryville, which was incorporated by the General Assembly 24 December 1795. |

The British set fire to Havre de Grace but spared Perryville. Instead they attacked nearby Principio Furnace, a primary cannon manufacturer in the United States, where Admiral Cockburn’s forces torched the buildings and destroyed all finished weapons they found. |

Under orders of General George B. McClellan the old Stump plantation was overtaken by Federal forces and used as a Civil War Mule school to train mules for pulling wagons and teamsters for working with the animals. This property is now known as Perry Point. |

Passenger train service restored in Cecil County after the Perryville MARC train station, built in 1905, was restored and reopened. |

Current Perry Point Federal Credit Union building constructed and opened. |

Domonick Joseph Cifaldo was honored for 50 year membership in the Perryville Lions Club, and the Good Shepherd School in Perryville named their school hall, Cifaldo Hall in his honor, whilst then Governor William Donald Schaefer sent a notification proclaiming Cifaldo one of “Maryland’s Most Valuable Citizens.” On June 28 of that year the Maryland Municipal League honored Mr. Cifaldo for his 24 years of service as a Perryville Town Commissioner by inducting him into their Hall of Fame, the first person to achieve this distinction. |
