Board Member Changes

11/18/2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Greater Perryville Chamber of Commerce Announces New President and Treasurer

Perryville, MD - August 6, 2009 – The Greater Perryville Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors today voted and appointed a new President and subsequent Treasurer.  The new President is Matt Roath (former Treasurer) and Treasurer’s duties will be taken on by Kim Spencer.

Matt is the Director of Business Development for Pfister Energy, Inc and has been an active member of the GPVCC for 2+ years.  He was chosen for the position because, as a lifelong resident of Perryville, his intricate knowledge of and experience with the businesses, residents and local governmental leaders of the town will help him lead the organization forward in its current accelerated growth pattern.

The necessity for a new President was brought about by the unfortunate resignation of former President Lance Miller.  Lance was forced to resign his position and responsibilities due to a recent career change that has for the most part taken his day-to-day work away from the Cecil County area.  Lance has been President of the GPVCC for approximately 2 ½ years, and it is with considerable regret that Lance’s resignation was accepted.

As mentioned Kim Spencer will be taking over the role of Treasurer for the group.  Kim is a Senior Account Executive for Chesapeake Publishing & Printing.  Her prior experience in the banking industry should allow for a seamless transition.

Board member and former GPVCC President Barbara Brown believes “……that Matt will do a fine job of leading our Chamber in a positive direction.  Perryville has a lot going on and with Matt living here to be a part of it, having the will and energy to get involved will take this organization to the next level. ”

The Greater Perryville Chamber of Commerce is a local business and community activism organization. The Chamber was founded in 1997 and consists of 60+ members.
