Hurricane Earl is now 85 miles ESE of Cape Hatteras, and has turned towards the north-northeast moving at approximately 18 mph, and is scheduled to make a further north-easterly turn at approximately 6:00 am on Friday Morning, when it will approximately parallel to the N. One tradition for kicking off the Christmas Season in Cecil County is the annual lighting of the "Holly Tree by-the-tracks". The Baltimore & Ohio held the first public ceremony in 1948 when thousands of people gathered to ring in the season as lights from thousands of bulbs on the evergreen softly illuminated the Jackson, MD hillside. For many years the company dispatched a special train from Mount Royal Station to Jackson for the occassion. The Cecil County Holly Tree Corporation (A non-profit organization) has continued this tradition, and the lighting of the tree will be on Saturday 6th December. ...

ANNAPOLIS - The Maryland Transportation Authority spoke out Tuesday against Delegate David Rudolph?s effort to eliminate the $5 toll local residents must pay when crossing the Susquehanna River into Cecil County. Unfortunately few of the decision makers live in Harford or Cecil County, and therefore enjoy a relatively "Toll-free" existence.
